The grandparents arived yesterday evening, just about the time that we would have been initiating bedtime procedures with Spigotbottom. She was quiet and happy, but I'll attribute what happened next to evening fussiness. They get out of the car, say hello, and I give her to Grandma-- and Spigotbottom busts out crying. Poor Spigotbottom! Poor Grandma! After that, she'd cry if they looked at her too closely, much less if they tried to touch.
Heck of a time for her first bout of fear of strangers. Let's hope she warms up to them today, since I need to get stuff done for the show, and tomorrow they'll be looking after her all morning. The thought of her spending half a day with people she's scared of (albeit needlessly) is not a pleasant one. For her or them.previous next
