I ended up requesting permission to nap. Permission granted, and a has a nice one.

The party is on and we're upstairs. Q is reading a book.

I don't like people apologizing for my daughter and describing her as 'shy'. I don't like grandma telling her to smile for a picture. I hope she never learns to smile on demand. Is this nitpicking? I got an eye roll from brother in law when I told him not to call her shy.

I think it's too soon to label her. I think if she never likes being around people, it's ok. I'll teach her to cope and reassure her there's nothing wrong with it. So much agony from raising introverts to believe they're supposed to act contrary to their nature.
