Got my driver's license taken care of. In the end, there were no tests. I guess the person I spoke to was mistaken, or misunderstood me when I said I had my old license #. Anyway, I am now legit again. And one more piece of ID safely renewed-- I was getting dangerously low there, what with thefts (SS card) and losses (birth cert.) and impending expiration dates (passport). End up in the wrong situation with no papers in AZ and I could get shipped back to who-knows-where. The mind boggles.
