We got a gate for the doorway between the playroom and the kitchen area.

1. The cat can't figure out that she should jump over it, and her food is on the other side.

2. Q immediately started standing on one side of it and shaking it and screaming that she wanted it open. Until we opened it, then she started screaming that she wanted it closed. (She does a lot of this kind of thing these days. Requesting P, then immediately demanding Not P. lather, rinse repeat, and the upshot of it is that you just. cannot. win.) Then she wanted J to pick her up and put her on the other side of it. Then she wanted him to pick her up and put her on the other side of it. Yeah.

3. The first time I actually used it for baby-containment, he immediately started crying when I shut it.

4. It's a self-closing model. I'm thinking we want something a little more defeasible.

On the bright side, we're on like the third night in a row of him only waking 1 or 2 times. That, friends, is good news.
