I feel like our Christmas present situation was a little more manageable this year. We didn't stick to our plan entirely, but it was better. I saw Xmas described as obligatory gift giving. That is accurate. I wonder what it would be like if it weren't obligatory, even for immediate family. How much would we really give? "I 'have' to get something for this person or that person. We train our children into it. It goes beyond mere thoughtfulness and giving, which should go on all year if it is to go on at all. Without this? I suppose the very fabric of society would unravel.previous next
