Yesterday, for the first time in about 5 years, U wore a new pair of shoes. His other shoes he had since he was about 3. He had so outgrown them that his toes and heels had broken out. He looked so badly neglected. But we didn’t push or make it into a thing, and especially with the pandemic and not going out and wearing shoes as often, finally when he went for a walk in them he felt they were uncomfortable. I suggested getting a new pair for walking in. “You can keep your regular ones and wear them whenever you want.” And so he did. Prior to this any suggestion that he needed a new pair was met with panicky defensiveness and denial. The new shoes are probably a solid 2 inches larger than the old ones. Lol.

Anyway, my parenting, it worked this time. Patience and giving him control and knowing that when it’s a means to an end of his own choice, he will do it.

The other thing is that my biopsy and other test results came back totally fine. I have a hopefully minor chronic cervicitis that needs treated, but nothing really dangerous. So, yay.
